Rapid City Muscle Car

We built our own studio to record Rapid City in 1994. In many ways this is my favorite Daddies record.

Instead of trying to search for a sound or coherent style, we wanted to whip the listener around as if he/ she was strapped into a roller coaster and experiencing stylistic G forces. Every track is almost the direct opposite of the last, but it all fits together.

I remember thinking that I wanted people to concentrate on the substance of the lyrics. The form of each song is just a chosen delivery system for an idea.... music as something constructed, architectural and artificial as opposed to the popular BS, that music represents some kind of direct folky speech from the soul. Poppycock.
