Skaboy JFK: the Skankin' hits of the Cherry Poppin' Daddies, in celebration of the bands 20th year in the music business. Like their 1998 multi-platinum smash Zoot Suit Riot: the Swingin' hits of...the new album will emphasize one genre, this time Ska. Skaboy will combine four new recordings with tracks from the groups earlier catalogue, reflecting all the waves and varieties of Ska: Traditional/Bluebeat (2:29, Soul Cadillac), Two Tone (Hammerblow, Skaboy JFK), Third Wave (Hi and Lo, Sockable Face Club). There are even funky Fishbone-esque hybrids for good measure: (Slapstick).

During the Bush years, everybody in the Daddies, pursued side projects and personal stuff. One of these was Steve and Jasons proto-punk/ glam band project: White Hot Odyssey. I guess it sounds like AC/DC, The Dead Boys, The New York Dolls, Ziggy Stardust... the kind of stuff that we grew up loving. Its strutting, preening excess in powdered wigs, beauty marks, stove pipe hatsﾠ and Edwardian collars. Through it all Le Count d Monet examines what rock and roll is really all about.

Soul Caddy was conceived in 2000 in the aftermath of the swing craze of the late 90s. We saw it as our opportunity to show all these new fans what we were really all about. The single from that record was a glammy look back at the 20th century we recorded with producer Tony Visconti called Diamond Light Boogie. There is Soul and Ska, and Swing and Glam and Psychedelia on it, in other words ...it is us. In it, I hear a lot of loneliness and resignation: I guess my reaction to the self satisfied dream state and icky values of the culture, on the precipice of 9-11. Its odd to say, but in retrospect, I think we could feel it coming. Fun music in spite of all that ;-).ﾠﾠﾠﾠﾠﾠ ﾠ
