Hi Everybody, We just got a shipment of Zoot Suit Riots and Soul Caddy Cd's... So you can get a signed one or whatever.... The Cd version is good especially for Soul Caddy because it was mixed so freakin hot that I personally think its better as a CD as opposed to a download. Excited to play with Duke Ellington Orchestra and Tito Puente Jr this week down in Dallas. and we are adding more dates by the day. More soon....

Hey Everybody,

I guess by now some of you have heard that I screwed my knee up and require surgery and consequently the Daddies February tour of Europe is going to be postponed. The band is very disappointed and I really feel like crap that it's my old ass that let everybody  down. We are not sure today when we will actually make it to Europe, but hopefully summer or fall of 2010. I should be good as new for American stages by March.

Putting this tour together has been a big, confusing job and I owe a debt of gratitude to Bucket, the legendary ska maestro of the Toasters, for serving as consiglieri to me as I pushed this boulder up the hill, only to have it roll back over me just as we neared the top. I feel like Zorba the Greek. I can't hold back an impulse to laugh my fool ass off after watching an edifice that took months to build, crumble before my eyes.... "A man loosens his belt and looks for trouble.... Boss you need  a drink".....The band has been very understanding despite being extremely blindsided and inconvenienced. I appreciate you very much.

On the positive side we have a new booking agent in the US, Dan Peraino of Concerted Efforts as well as solid competent management, Tom Derr at Rock Ridge. We aim to take advantage of this time to add new material and make some strides toward making new recordings. Once again we hope to see you soon and are just very sorry that it won't be next month.

We are looking forward to returning to the Blue Box in Sofia :-) check out the clip from our show last year below. I remember seeing parts of the ceiling falling down during that song. Very rockin show. Cant wait to go back. Berlin, Vienna and London were also fun shows last year and we return to those cities again. This will be the first show ever in Paris (my future hometown) for the Daddies, as well as the first time we have hit Manchester, Birmingham and the midlands. Lots of UK shows!

We'll be playing the swingin hits of course, but we are open to all song requests if it feels right :-). Practice that rock step or just jump up and down... Cant wait.

Hi Everybody,

At midnight tonight Skaboy will go up on this site. Buy it here, from the band directly, and know that you are a force for the good in the universe and not EEEEEVIIIIIL. Seriously, we hope you like it. A Ska collection from us has been a long time coming, and we think this really gets it. Thanks again or your continued support,

Steve

Hi Everybody,

Skaboy JFK, our new release is set to drop on September 29! Feel free to order or download it here 1st!!!!

We have begun the process of putting T-shirts up on the site. Check out our Shop! You can pay through Paypal or with a credit card. For overseas, I would suggest Paypal, but North America is good with either. I will put your order in the mail myself, and am always here to assist if you have any questions or concerns. Just hit the contact button on the front page.

Our tour of SoCal/Arizona/Colorado was fun. Especially getting back to Phoenix and Denver. Its been too long.

European tour is going to last approx 3 weeks and will be in late January to middle of February. Stay tuned here for details.

Hi Everybody,

We finally have up a new web site! We have added Paypal to our merchandise page. We find that this is the best way for us to get our records to all of you guys overseas. If you live across the pond and want a CD, just use Paypal and I will send one myself the very next day.  Downloads are even quicker obviously. As soon as we verify the order a link is sent to your email and the file is sent along with a bonus art files and extras if that particular record hs them. If there are any problems our IT guy, Brian as well as I myself will be right on it to make sure you get what you need ASAP (if you need help or just wanna say hey, just hit customer support icon under contact us) Credit Cards in the US have no problem syncing up with our shopping cart. I would suggest for overseas, just using our Paypal option- you can use International credit cards or cash there very simply.

We will be adding T-shirts and other merchandise any day now.

And of course our new record, “Skaboy JFK: The Skankin Hits of the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies” comes out on September 29th officially. Stay Tuned for more on that.

I have been working on a vinyl single to be released maybe near the first of the year or maybe concurrent with the European tour which is looking like its going to start around the 27th of January or so.

Our plan for the next month is to put together a little different set list for the shows in the Southwest. We will play more ska to preview some of the songs off of Skaboy and tunes like Teenage Brainsurgeon and God is a Spider along with some of the more rockabilly stuff like Mongoose and the Snake and Hazel, S.D. Of course we wont forget the Swing stuff.... no worries there :-) . We are just going to rock out a bit more that week Aug 27th----> Sept 5th.

Hope you like the new look and better service.

Hi Everybody,

We will begin recording work on the long awaited collection of all our Ska material on March 10th. I'm thinking there may be as many as 15 songs on it. Its going to be sort of like what we did with Zoot Suit Riot. We will record about 5 new songs and the rest of the material will be culled from our other recordings. Its funny how that even though even though all the material is Ska, our songs tend to be in many different styles of the subgenre of ska, in other words, its not all Two Tone style or 3rd Wave. There is more rootsy, Blue Beat stuff represented; as well as a good deal of songs that are kind of their own thing. That's what Zoot Suit Riot (the Record) was like, even though it was all swing it wasn't the same type song 15 different times, and that's why we felt it worked as an album.

The album cover is going to revisit touches of the artwork we did for Zoot Suit Riot in order to emphasize the fact that both are collections, but of differing styles. If they look somewhat similar maybe people will put 2 + 2 together and understand that these were special records we did in order to showcase one style, as opposed to getting a wrong impression of what the band is about generally.

Anyhow, for many years fans have been nudging us to do this.....plus there are cool, new songs! Now you can just put our ska record on and let it roll with out having to hit skip or having to explain to your friends about what freaks we are every time you play something of ours. I know a lot of people out there are unfamiliar with material earlier than Zoot Suit Riot like: Sockable Face Club, Slapstick, or Don Quixote..... all that stuff will be on this record. I'm looking forward to it because I think its going to be high energy and really work well as a whole. We are hoping to have it finished by the summer, if not before.

Ciao,

Skaboy JFK

Hi Everybody,

We just wanted to thank everybody in Europe for coming out for the November/ December shows. For us it was long past time to reconnect with you, and we are so glad we did. The shows were a lot of sweaty fun... I lost 10 pounds! I was surprised to see how many of you knew the lyrics to even our obscure songs. I promise that next time we will play some of the things that were yelled at us from out of the audience that we weren’t prepared for... like God is a Spider. Kevin, our drummer for the tour, did a phenomenal job, but he didn’t have much time to prepare for the tour as he lives in NYC and we live in Eugene. That made getting all the songs we would have liked to have been prepared to play impossible. Our plan is to return to Europe at some point in the summer, most likely near the end of it. As soon as I know more I will post the dates on the web site as well as the myspace page.... myspace.com/cherrypoppindaddies

My very favorite moment of the tour was in Berlin after the Wild at Heart show at about 4 am. I was walking to the Hotel for a shower and as I turned a corner in front of a schwarma place, I surprised a big red fox the size of a medium sized dog. He was wary of me and stopped on the cobblestones under a street lamp for a second. It was right in front of a gothic looking church and everything was noir and dark surrounding him but he shined with a noble, demonic presence. At that moment Berlin looked like the coloring from the Ziggy Stardust album with the fox glowing like a painted photo on top of a litho print. When we finally made it to the Rock n Roll hotel a few blocks away, it was in an old trashed building that looked like the building Erwin/Elvira lived in in Fassbinders’ “In a Year with 13 Moons”. I wish I could record the next record in Berlin as well as Istanbul, because this tour inspired me with a ton of little images from there, that are floating around in my brain bucket and are somehow going to find their way into the new songs.

The blast we had doing this tour has made me more determined than ever to hunt down some promoter for Australia/Japan. I know from the crazy amount of e-mail we receive that these shows would be tremendous. So if anybody has a contact for me send it my way and we will hook it up.

Now that we are back home for a while I am juggling what/ who will be recording new material. I have a bunch of new stuff that I want to get to. The problem is that we don't have a drummer in Eugene to get the material together with :-(. I have a couple of leads but right now its up in the air. My goal is to get something finished before we get back to Europe, I am crossing my fingers that it works itself out.

I believe that next tour we will hit France as well which is a good thing because French is the only language that I passionately would love to master. And those of you who know me know that my dream would be to move with my family to Paris or Rome while still being able to record and play music. I had an offer to work in a Biology lab out in Versailles a while back, but I reconsidered because I thought it would take me away from music too much. But now I am hereby trying to lay the groundwork, probably a couple of years from now, for a dream situation where I could live outside the US and retain my ability to record and perform music. I am trying to network with musicians and maybe also biologists who live somewhere fun and exotic like Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, etc.; so that maybe in a few years I could hook myself up with gainful employment, a band or productive things to do so that our upcoming daughter Peazy can enjoy an international upbringing, and a nuanced, worldly perspective. So if you are looking for a song writer/ singer/ music producer/ molecular biologist drop me a line ;-).

Hi Everybody,

Well the software on the site has now been updated and appears to be bug free, so download away. I have spent the last week or so mailing out press packets and trying to get the hard copies of the CD ready to be sold off the site here as well. That should be possible tomorrow night, I am hoping. The release date proper for the record is June 10 or something, so a lot of stuff needs to get done,

like contacting distributors, digital and otherwise, before then. But for now this is the only place to get our new music. Its also the only outlet that we have the control over.

Dan and Dustin are back from Europe and now its time to get our playing chops together for April, which is the beginning of touring behind the record proper. Its going to be slow at first until like June when we can hopefully get this flying fortress off the ground again... we missed ya.

More soon,

steve

Hi there,

Well we have been doing an experiment to suss out why some peoples downloads would crap out and we now have a solution. Its just been traffic taxing the server. If you make an order and you try it couple of times and no dice then send tech support an email and he will design a link that will work for you ;- ) problem solved. We are going to redesign the software at some point soon so that there will be none of these problems.

There are some April shows on the horizon in the Northwest: Pdx, Eugene, and Seattle. I will probably stick them up today or tomorrow when they are confirmed. We are going to begin a press release hopefully next week, send the album out to be reviewed, etc. So with the lag time for that, its like April May June before we start to hit peoples consciousness, and consequently are able to get some shows in a venue near you.

Like I have said before this DIY online way of conducting ourselves is new to me, but its sort of fun. Its a little bit like how we did it right when were starting out, except less xeroxing thank god. In the old days I would spend all night flyer-ing Eugene, and fleeing from the cops. I remember our first cassette was sold exclusively out of my video store "Great Society Video". People would come in and say "Whats that cassette on the cash register?", and I would say "Thats my band the Cherry Poppin Daddies." "THE WHATTY WHOSY WHATSIS? Play it." I would play it then and people would go "Wow I didn't expect it to be good. I mean no offense, but you're bald headed punk rocker in bifocals and Genghis Khan mustache and the band sounds like Benny Goodman on crosstops with Alvin from the chipmunks on vocals..... I'll take one" ..... we sold a bunch of music that way.

We didn't really expect to be around past Ferociously Stoned, much less 19 years later! But what can I say except, ~singing~ forever young. I actually can't wait to get out there and rock again... its gonna be fun... and Hulk will smash... as many of you already know. Have a good music day!

Buy New Daddies! Susquehanna. I think we fixed many of the problems. I will reset your codes.

Hi Everybody,

We made a few adjustments today that seem to be working. It finally worked for me I was using Safari and a high speed Comcast line. My guy over at the site said that he would reset everybody's download codes who had trouble tonight after he gets off of work (I'd say by 7PST) and you can give it another go. All I can say is that a bunch of people were successful and now even bonehead steve was able to pull it off, so I hope we are good.

The snippets, so you can get a sense of the record before you buy it will also be uploaded again tonight. I had problems initially that they sounded monsterously slowed down.

Anybody who needs lyrics send me your email address and I will get you a rich text file so that the spanish doesn't get all scrambled by the browser. Future editions of the download will contain the lyrics, as do all the versions of our other records.... along with some additional artwork sometimes not printed in the original CD's.

Hi Everybody,

This is day 2 of offering up Susquehanna off the website. There have been a few problems, but we will be trying to address the issues later today. If you had a problem downloading the album we will keep working on it and won't forget about you :-). I myself had a problem from home, for some reason it just bogged down at about 25MB's. Some people have gotten it all right, so its a question of figuring out where the problem is. We will have a strategy pretty soon for you brave pioneers on our system. For your bravery you shall be rewarded as having the very first copies in the world of our newest thing. Thanks again and I will keep you posted either here or on our myspace page or both.

Hi Everybody! Welcome to day one of the new Cherry Poppin' Daddies website.... Yay! Today we offer our new record: "Susquehanna" for download here exclusively. We will be putting music out here, off our own site; as well as selling it at shows. We are putting it out ourselves (back on our label: Space Age Bachelor Pad) and hoping that our fans realize that it costs money for us to make records, and that they will help us defray those costs by paying for them, and also by spreading the word that we are the real deal. Its a new and possibly better way for us to be a band and we are excited. If all goes well, there is more music waiting in the wings.

A special gigantic thank you to all you loyal fans for your tireless support over the years; it has really meant a lot- especially through the lean hard times. We sincerely hope that our music continues to connect with you, your hearts have made all the difference.
